Lewis Hamilton took control of the second free practice session at the Hungaroring earlier today, the McLaren driver setting the fastest lap ahead of Renault’s Nelson Piquet Jr. The Brazilian driver went well in the morning but managed to pop in a quick lap after lunch on soft Bridgestone tyres and team mate Fernando Alonso went fourth, just behind Hamilton’s team mate, Heikki Kovalainen. Ferrari could only manage fifth and sixth, however Kimi Raikkonen got the better of Felipe Massa this time around. Continue Reading

Lewis Hamilton has lead the field today at the pre-German Grand test at Hockenheim. With his McLaren MP4-23, the British Grand Prix winner went fastest and sported the now common finned-engine cover, much like Renault, Force India, Red Bull and Scuderia Toro Rosso cars. The session was stopped for a while due to heavy rain showers, but after lunch Hamilton was able to eclipse his rival Kimi Raikkonen and go to the top of the tables. Continue Reading

Following on from Hamilton’s win on home soil, there was much to discuss as drivers endured a difficult British Grand Prix. Mark Webber rued his early spin that cost him dearly, Fernando Alonso ran well despite losing out by remaining on the same set of tyres and David Coulthard departed his last British race early with a coming together with Sebastian Vettel. Rubens Barrichello was over-the-moon at claiming a podium for Honda and Nick Heidfeld hopes his recent lack of form is now behind him as he took second for BMW. Continue Reading

Both Ferrari’s suffered from lack of pace and poor strategic decisions from either the team, the drivers or both. Heikki couldn’t capitalise on his maiden pole position from yesterday and finished in fifth ahead of Fernando Alonso. Continue Reading

An interesting story from the British Grand Prix (and bearing in mind it is only Thursday) is a challenge from Jenson Button to fellow British driver Lewis Hamilton. Apparently Hamilton recently found out about Button’s triathlon endeavors and was impressed with his rival’s placing - Jenson finished 117th out of 1700 participants in last month’s Windsor event. An exchange of words in today’s press conference ahead of the race on Sunday led to a challenge being put forward by Jenson, and initially it was agreed by Lewis. Continue Reading

Lewis Hamilton took the reins of the McLaren for the final day of testing at Silverstone today, the Briton going comfortably fastest ahead of Timo Glock in the Toyota. Glock did well to finish in second, the German had a coming-together with David Coulthard on Hangar Straight. However, finishing in second completes a very good test for the Cologne-based team and they are in a buoyant mood prior to the British Grand Prix next weekend. Continue Reading
