What Would You Do With Grand Prix Fridays?

Autosport have recently reported that a potential shake-up of the way a race weekend is structured is being discussed. The newly-formed Formula One Team’s Association have been looking at a lot of aspects relating to Formula One, and as usual when these kind of discussions happen, the age-old Friday’s aren’t particularly interesting line comes out. Alonso Summoned To The Stewards’ Office

During yesterday’s second free practice session at Monaco, Renault driver Fernando Alonso damaged his R28 chassis while exiting T1. The famous Ste Devote corner - a sharp right-hander that leads onto the hill - caught Alonso’s team mate out only minutes prior to Fernando’s incident, and because of his actions, the stewards have had a chat with the double world champion. Hamilton Escapes Penalty Following Heavy Shunt

Lewis Hamilton - 2008 Bahrain Grand PrixFollowing Lewis Hamilton’s shunt in the second Friday Free Practice session this afternoon, the Briton was meant to be taken to the Sakhir circuit’s medical centre. The data recorder on-board the McLaren MP4-23 recorded G-forces above what is considered safe and thus it is a requirement in these situations to undergo a checkup. However, Hamilton was unaware of this necessity, as was the marshal who returned Hamilton back to the pitlane on the back of a motorbike. Felipe Massa - 2008 Bahrain Grand PrixAfter a rather unsavoury week in the world of Formula One it is of relief I get to write about what the sport is actually about; brave drivers going as fast as possible. And would you believe it, the fastest in both morning and afternoon sessions was none other than Ferrari’s Felipe Massa. The diminutive Brazilian has taken a fair amount of stick in the past three weeks having failed to score points in the opening two rounds of the championship. But today he popped in a 1.32.233s and a 1m31.420s to out-pace team mate Kimi Raikkonen by just over 0.1s both times. Continue Reading
