F12008: Rules & Regulations Preview
The penultimate preview post is upon us and we can almost smell the unmistakable odour of petrol and burnt rubber as the build-up continues to this weekend’s Australian Grand Prix. This post however is all about the changes to the rules and how they might affect the 2008 season. Unlike previous years, the rule changes don’t seem that big from the outside looking in, but they have affected how the cars will handle and thus may change the way a driver runs a race. F12008: Hamilton & Kovalainen Preview
Continuing BlogF1’s guest post series, today I have a new Formula One blogger writing for you. Duncan recently started vee8 as a dedicated Formula One site, although he has been writing for years at his personal site, doctorvee. Being a regular commenter at BlogF1, I’ve come to realise that Duncan has a shrewd eye for detail and I’ve always admired his F1-related posts in the past. For today, we have the McLaren duo to discuss; how will Hamilton fair against his equally experienced team mate Heikki Kovalainen? Enjoy… Continue Reading

AMG SL63 Chosen For 2008 Safety Car Duties

Posted on March 7th, 2008 by Oliver White

Mercedes today unveiled the SL63 as the official 2008 safety car and the C63 Estate as the medical car. Both cars have been developed by AMG and the Performance Studio and will be present at all races to assist the safety of the drivers. And once again, Bernd Maylander will be at the helm should the need arise during a race. The modifications made to the models are quite lengthy, but needless to say the cars are generally faster than their road-going counterparts thanks to weight savings and a professional driver behind the wheel. F12008: Heidfeld & Kubica Preview
Over the following four days; today, Friday, Monday and Tuesday, BlogF1 is being handed over to four excellent writers from the field of Formula One blogging. Each writer has submitted a post comparing the team mates from the top four squads, and having read through them, you are all in for a real treat. First up is Clive Allen from F1 Insight. Clive’s blog has become a real treasure to read with well-thought out and explanatory pieces. I’m not ashamed to say I get excited when I see F1 Insight updates in my feed reader.

Today though, Clive is talking about one of his favourite teams, BMW. Take it away my good man… Continue Reading

F12008: Rookies Preview
Every season brings with it a few young hopefuls, eager to learn and show off their driving talent while trying not to get swamped among the media, PR, and general business of racing motor cars. These particularly entrants are known as the rookies, and presuming Super Aguri stay with Sato and Davidson, 2008 will see two brand new stars join the grid, and a further two who have completed only a few races between them. F12008: Ferrari

Posted on March 4th, 2008 by Oliver White

F12008: Ferrari PreviewNot everyone thought they could do it. Following Michael Schumacher’s retirement from competitive racing, the year out and subsequent leaving of Ross Brawn and a fairly major shake-up of other key staff at Ferrari, few thought they’d actually be able to continue their winning ways. But in 2007, win they did. The final race saw Kimi Raikkonen collect a long overdue and deserved championship. A few races previous the team had seized the constructors and the Scuderia had succeeded. But it wasn’t all plain-sailing, and 2008 is going to be difficult for a number of reasons. Continue Reading
