BBC Confirm David Coulthard & Eddie Jordan For 2009

The BBC today announced that both David Coulthard and Eddie Jordan would be a part of their 2009 broadcast team, adding to the already signed and confirmed Martin Brundle. The news ends speculation about the make-up of the team and has generally been welcomed by fans of the sport in the United Kingdom. Also confirmed is pitlane reporter Ted Kravitz, BBC Radio 5 Live’s Jonathan Legard and Jake Humphrey will be the show’s anchor and presenter. Continue Reading

As the silly season among the Formula One drivers slowly wraps up for another year, the commentating team for the new BBC broadcasting squad has held almost similar speculation since the institution was awarded the contract earlier this year. All names under the sun have since been proposed for the job of commentator, but one always stood out among the rest - Martin Brundle. British newspaper The Daily Express are reporting that former team owner Eddie Jordan could be about to make a comeback to Formula One, the Irish businessman being linked with the BBC as part of their 2009 commentary and broadcast team. The BBC have been very tight-lipped about their line-up for their 2009 return, with Martin Brundle and David Coulthard expected to take up roles amid speculation that the FIA are trying to block Brundle’s move. Pitpass are reporting very early this Monday morning that Martin Brundle and David Coulthard will form a pivotal role in the commentating team for the 2009 BBC Formula One team. The rumours have been flying around the Internet ever since it was announced that ITV gave up their contract and the BBC would regain the sport’s broadcasting rights from 2009 onwards, and David Coulthard has been tipped for a role for a long time, only heightened after his retirement announcement. Big News For British Fans: F1 Returns To The BBC

After twelve years of covering Formula One, ITV has lost the battle to continue broadcasting the sport. Instead, from 2009 onwards the BBC will incorporate the show into BBC Sports and will have rights to mobile, radio and Internet broadcasting as well as the television rights. The deal is for five years but it is currently unknown if Martin Brundle, James Allen, Louise Goodman and Ted Kravitz will make the move as well. Continue Reading
