FIA president Max Mosley was invited to Jordan this weekend to attend the country’s inaugural rally, another sport governed by the international organisation. Mosley, who was recently plastered over a Sunday tabloid in the UK, has stayed away for the two Formula One races that have taken place (or about to take place) since. The Crown Prince of Bahrain sent Mosley a letter ahead of his planned visit to the Bahrain Grand Prix essentially asking him not to attend. Max obliged and cited reasons of being very busy working with his legal team at the time. But choosing to attend Jordan this week may not have been the best idea either, as it turns out the president has been given the cold shoulder by many people. Continue Reading

Below is the video footage of Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton from the Bahrain Grand Prix. The footage shows the incident on lap two where Lewis collides with the rear of Alonso’s Renault. Many people, including Mark Blundell, have said that it looks as though Fernando backed off. However, Alonso has denied blame saying that the McLaren was simply faster than his Renault. Take a look and have your say in the comments. Continue Reading

Ferrari claimed their first 1-2 of the season at the Bahrain Grand Prix this afternoon, the race being dominated by Felipe Massa who responded to his critics by winning from second on the grid. Kimi Raikkonen completed the perfect result for Ferrari by finishing in second with pole sitter Robert Kubica getting third and his second podium in succession. Continue Reading

Robert Kubica today became the first Pole to take a pole position in Formula One as he charged around the dusty Sakhir circuit in Bahrain. In what should have been a Ferrari wash-out BMW have set the cat among the pigeons and Kubica has now disrupted the Scuderia’s plans of a second easy-win. Massa redeemed himself slightly to take second but it was clear the intention was pole position. In that respect the plan hasn’t worked. Hamilton ended Saturday in third. Continue Reading

Following Lewis Hamilton’s shunt in the second Friday Free Practice session this afternoon, the Briton was meant to be taken to the Sakhir circuit’s medical centre. The data recorder on-board the McLaren MP4-23 recorded G-forces above what is considered safe and thus it is a requirement in these situations to undergo a checkup. However, Hamilton was unaware of this necessity, as was the marshal who returned Hamilton back to the pitlane on the back of a motorbike. Lewis eventually made it to the medical centre and has since been given the all-clear. Continue Reading

After a rather unsavoury week in the world of Formula One it is of relief I get to write about what the sport is actually about; brave drivers going as fast as possible. And would you believe it, the fastest in both morning and afternoon sessions was none other than Ferrari’s Felipe Massa. The diminutive Brazilian has taken a fair amount of stick in the past three weeks having failed to score points in the opening two rounds of the championship. But today he popped in a 1.32.233s and a 1m31.420s to out-pace team mate Kimi Raikkonen by just over 0.1s both times. Continue Reading
