Pitpass have an interesting article up this morning that mirrors a printed article in the Independent On Sunday from the same author. The article asks some pertinent questions relating to the Stepneygate saga, specifically the way the FIA handled the matter and the fine that was imposed on McLaren after they were found guilty of bringing the sport into disrepute. According to Pitpass’s Christopher Sylt and motor sport lawyers Jonathan Lux and Avnish Shah, Bernie Ecclestone and Jean Todt have no right to sit on the WMSC. Continue Reading…

The FIA World Motor Sport Council have met in Paris today at their French headquarters on Place de la Concorde. Among the topics covered in the meeting was the 2009 Formula One calendar, which has been released as a provisional schedule (full details were posted earlier) and also discussed was the future direction of the sport. The FIA are to conduct a review of how Formula One is governed, only weeks after Bernie Ecclestone (through his companies) suggested he wanted more control over the sport. Continue Reading…

Ferrari are well known to have a close association with the FIA, and be it truthful or not, that is the perceived opinion. The governing body has made favourable rulings in the past towards the the sport’s current oldest team and the organisation has garnered many nicknames because of it. And it is this association that makes di Montezemolo’s words today seem a little odd. The Ferrari president has already questioned Max’s ongoing status as president, but today reiterated his concerns to the Italian media. Continue Reading…

Max Mosley today received a vote of confidence from the member clubs of the FIA, the secret ballot taking place at the organisation’s French headquarters in Paris. The vote has come about after Mosley had been filmed in a London apartment role-playing with prostitutes, photos and video of which were published in the News of the World and on their website in late March. Since then Max had requested this Extraordinary General Meeting of the FIA to explain his actions and allow the organisation to decide his future as president. Continue Reading…

In a perhaps surprising move (or not), Max Mosley has added pressure to the member clubs of the FIA by writing to each club president in attempts to make it understood why he hasn’t resigned from the presidency, and to layout his reasons for his pursuit of continued presidency of the FIA. In his letter, which Autosport and GrandPrix.com have quoted fairly extensively in this evening’s postings, Max suggests that he is needed in order to continue the discussions and negotiations that he has been involved with. Continue Reading…

Despite insisting on attending his home grand prix for the last few weeks, FIA president Max Mosley has apparently been forced to step back from the glitz and glamour of Formula One’s most prestigious race, instead having to rely on deputy FIA president Marco Piccinini to attend the formal engagements. It has been reported that the Monaco Royal Family would rather not be seen with Mosley, and the FIA have had to carefully orchestrate their movements for the weekend. Max will not even be present at the Gala Dinner on Sunday evening. Continue Reading…

Autosport are reporting that WRC champion Sebastien Loeb has responded to criticism reported to have come from an email conversation between FIA members Surinder Thatthi (CACMS Chairman) and Morrie Chandler (WRC President). The alleged conversation essentially suggested that Loeb was not setting the best example by seemingly not bothering to keep his appearance smart. Although since the emails were published, some have suggested it was simply a ruse to discredit certain FIA members due to their allegiances with president Max Mosley Continue Reading…

Honda’s current team principal, Ross Brawn, is a man I truly respect. He may no longer be with a championship winning team, but his work ethic, abilities and performance haven’t appeared to slip following his ship-jumping antics. Perhaps it is too early to judge his performance at Honda; we need to wait to see what happens to the team before we judge the boss. But so far, Brawn looks healthy and uncompromisingly authoritative, albeit in green trousers. Continue Reading…

FIA president Max Mosley has been hit with further allegations by British tabloid the News Of The World, as the paper apparently speaks to one of the prostitutes hired by Mosley for the ’sadomasochistic orgy’. It was to be expected that the newspaper would follow up their expose from last week with further information, such is the style of the paper. However, the continuation of the saga only further adds to the pressure on Mosley to step down from his position. Continue Reading…

Germany’s national motoring body, ADAC, has written to Max Mosley asking the president of the FIA to reconsider his position within the organisation. This news comes after an extraordinary general meeting was called by Mosley via the FIA Senate. Mosley had stated in a letter to all FIA members earlier in the week that he had support from within the FIA and has been encouraged to continue in his role. Now, however, it appears that not all feel the same way. Continue Reading…
