What You Can Expect At Goodwood’s 2009 Festival Of Speed

The British Grand Prix has passed, as has the Le Mans 24 Hour, and that means along with longer evenings and sunnier afternoons, the Goodwood Festival Of Speed must be drawing close. And indeed it is, taking place on the grounds surrounding Goodwood House this upcoming weekend. From Friday 3rd to Sunday 5th July, all manor of motor vehicle will scream up the hillclimb, entertaining motor sport enthusiasts and allowing fans to mingle with the machines they love. Max Mosley Grieves The Loss Of His Son, Alexander

Max Mosley’s eldest son, Alexander, was found dead in his west London home yesterday afternoon, it has been reported. Alexander was considered by many as an intelligent man who graduated from Oxford University before completing a doctorate at the University of London. Alexander was a celebrated mathematician and has worked as a software developer, economist and was also the co-owner of a popular London restaurant. He was just 39 years old. Drivers & Teams Support Abruzzo Earthquake Victims

Disasters of the world touch Formula One, none more so than those participating drivers who hail from the affected country. In Australia earlier this year, Mark Webber went to great lengths to visit the fire-damaged region of Victoria, the same state the Australian Grand Prix was being held in. It wasn’t long after Mark’s touching tribute to those who have been affected by the fires that Italy was rocked by an earthquake. McLaren Suspend Dave Ryan Over Australia Disqualification

McLaren’s Sporting Director, Dave Ryan, has been suspended by Martin Whitmarsh today, the action coming after Ryan’s involvement with the issues surrounding the team following the eventual disqualification of Lewis Hamilton from the Australian Grand Prix. Ryan’s suspension was announced this morning in Malaysia and as the first practice session commenced, Ryan was seen leaving the Sepang circuit. Continue Reading…

Alan Van Der Merwe To Become The Official Medical Car Driver

South African racing driver Alan Van Der Merwe is set to become the official full time Medical Car driver for the 2009 season, it is being reported. Although it would appear that the FIA are yet to make an official announcement, the news comes after Alex Wurz and Sebastien Buemi all subbed for the previous regular pilot of the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Estate, Dr Jacques Tropenat, last year. The raft of changes include budget caps and a change to the points system and how the world champion is decided. Ross Brawn Is A Constructor: Honda Officially Becomes Brawn GP

The headline says it all – Ross Brawn has been successful in taking over Honda’s Formula One team, saving the squad and ensuring there will be 10 teams and 20 drivers on the Melbourne grid at the end of the month. While speculation has been rife for the last three or four months, the news that the team has been saved will be welcomed the world over. Bruno Senna Resigned To “Stepping Back”

Bruno Senna was, up until very recently, strongly linked with a drive for the Honda team in 2009, having tested for the squad back in November following the close of the 2008 world championship. Senna, who has driven well in GP2 and is considered a talent to watch out for in the future, was suggested as being Jenson Button’s team mate for 2009, but then it all went wrong. Honda withdrew, Barrichello went into hiding for a while, things started to move forward, Senna was considered to have the drive thanks to financial backing, and then Barrichello says he’s close to a deal. Has It All Gone Pear-Shaped At Brackley?

Anthony Davidson Swaps Steering Wheel For Microphone

Former Honda test driver and Super Aguri racer Anthony Davidson has agreed to join BBC Radio 5 Live’s commentary team for the entirety of the 2009 Formula One season. Davidson was hoping to return to racing this year after the Super Aguri team were disbanded in early 2008. A return to testing – possibly even racing – was apparently on the cards with Honda, but that all fell through when the manufacturer bosses decided to pull that plug as well. Continue Reading…
