Since the test at Silverstone last week, McLaren have looked strong. Lewis Hamilton and Heikki Kovalainen appeared to have a small margin over their long-term rivals Ferrari, and given that BMW fell off the wagon at the last race in France, the Woking-squad were naturally buoyant going into the race weekend. Ferrari, on the other hand, remained cautious but optimistic, but it soon started to go wrong for them and as they say in life, bad things come in threes… Continue Reading…

The 2008 British Grand Prix has really shaken the championships up, with the top three drivers all sharing the same amount of points, and the constructors title closing back up with McLaren gaining on BMW and Ferrari earning little from the Silverstone event. Further down the constructors table the fight between Toyota and Red Bull Racing is tight and Honda have brought themselves into the Williams/Renault battle. The only team yet to score is Force India, and therefore driver’s are not on the tables yet. Continue Reading…

Following on from Hamilton’s win on home soil, there was much to discuss as drivers endured a difficult British Grand Prix. Mark Webber rued his early spin that cost him dearly, Fernando Alonso ran well despite losing out by remaining on the same set of tyres and David Coulthard departed his last British race early with a coming together with Sebastian Vettel. Rubens Barrichello was over-the-moon at claiming a podium for Honda and Nick Heidfeld hopes his recent lack of form is now behind him as he took second for BMW. Continue Reading…

Under dark clouds and immense expectation, Lewis Hamilton has won the British Grand Prix, his margin over the nearest driver being over 60 seconds. Joining Lewis on the podium were Nick Heidfeld of BMW and Rubens Barrichello of Honda. Both Ferrari’s suffered from lack of pace and poor strategic decisions from either the team, the drivers or both. Heikki couldn’t capitalise on his maiden pole position from yesterday and finished in fifth ahead of Fernando Alonso. Continue Reading…

Lewis Hamilton has won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone to the absolute delight of the rain-soaked fans who line the Northamptonshire circuit. The race was difficult with rain falling at various times over the course of the 60 laps. Strategies came into play and as Ferrari floundered McLaren persevered to take the victory. Nick Heidfeld and Rubens Barrichello join Hamilton on the podium while Raikkonen and Kovalainen came home fourth and fifth. Continue Reading…

With Heikki Kovalainen going for his first race victory and Mark Webber in the mix with his Red Bull RB4, the 2008 British Grand Prix is set up for a belter of a race. Hamilton and Raikkonen are right behind and Heidfeld has improved as Kubica faulters in tenth. It will be David Coulthard’s last British Grand Prix in a Formula One car and he will want to leave Silverstone on a high, and Jenson Button sits towards the back with a under-performing Honda RA108. Nico Rosberg is enduring a difficult weekend. The young Williams pilot has announced he may end up starting tomorrow’s British Grand Prix from the pitlane. The reason for this change of position comes down to whether or not the team pull his car form the Parc Ferme. Rosberg’s FW30 is suffering some kind of suspension problem and according to the driver, it started on Friday and hasn’t been resolved. The Grove-based team have stripped the vehicle down and replaced some parts, but during qualifying the car was still bouncing around. Continue Reading…

Here’s what the grid for tomorrow’s British Grand Prix will look like. Currently there are no penalties that I know of so therefore no demotions as of yet. If anything does happen I will update the grid accordingly. It looks very interesting with Kovalainen on pole for the first time and Mark Webber hoping for some serious points. Hamilton and Raikkonen will no doubt duke it out and try to use their strategies to get ahead of the Red Bull, but unfortunately for Ferrari, Massa is way down in seventh. Continue Reading…

Heikki Kovalainen has taken his maiden pole position ahead of tomorrow’s British Grand Prix. The Finnish driver looked very good in testing last week as he did yesterday during the free practice sessions. It was a close run qualifying session with a little rain thrown in for good measure, but on the last lap, Kovalainen blitzed the opposition with a moment he will treasure forever. And as if that wasn’t enough, Mark Webber planted his Red Bull RB4 alongside Heikki in second. Continue Reading…

In a sensational qualifying session for the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, Heikki Kovalainen has taken his very first Formula One pole position. And perhaps even more surprising is the driver who will pull up in grid slot two: Mark Webber. The final session was incredible and for a few moments, the Australian was there on pole, but Kovalainen blitzed his final lap and took the premiere position by some margin. Lewis Hamilton struggled in the final run and could only manage fourth, behind rival Ferrari driver Kimi Raikkonen. Continue Reading…
