Please note this post was written in 2006 and is therefore out of date.
It seems too far into the future to be discussing the 2009 championship, but in reality it is only two years away, and while much may change in that time, the make up of the season is already beginning to take shape, particulrly the rules. Formula One’s governing body – the FIA – have quietly released the 2009 Rules & Regulations on their website. While many changes have been widely rumoured and reported, this is the first time they have been published for the public to read. The general jist of what will be happening come 2009 is detailed below.

- A change in the size of the cars: The maximum width will increase from 1800mm to 2000mm, with the minimum width being 1980mm. The wheels will also increase in size, from 355mm to 365mm at the front, and from 380mm to 460mm.

- A change to the weight: To accommodate the energy recovery systems, the minimum weight of the cars is increasing from 600kg to 605kg.

- Standard ECUs will be introduced, and Traction Control will therefore be banned. Traction Control made a come back recently because the FIA found it hard to police. But with a standardisation in the Engine Control Units, the stewards can better monitor what electronic gizmos the teams are employing.

- Lights inside the cockpit to warn drivers of flags being shown on parts of the circuits. One issue that has been going on for a while is the difficulty drivers have of seeing flags being waved on the side of the circuit when they are driving at high speed. The lights would corrospond with the flag being waved, and go out when the driver has passed the affected area.

- Pit-to-car radios must no longer be scrambled. This is probably to aid the television companies as the recent introduction of radio messages during live broadcasts has proved popular. Even Fisichella’s colourful language, although the FIA now delay the broadcast to filter out such use of words.

Although these rules will not come into effect until 2009, the teams are surely already preparing as the changes will be quite dramatic. The increase in width of both the car and the tyres will aid grip and balance, but the FIA will undoubtedly have counter measures (aerodynamic related) to ensure speeds do get too out-of-control.

There have been changes made to the 2007 season as well, and these will be discussed in January when the build up to the next season begins.

The scenes of shear pleasure that exuded from Massa as he jumped on his mechanics in Parc Ferme will remain with the 25 year old Ferrari driver for as long as he lives. Massa drove a sublime race that saw him lead from pole position to chequered flag. His dominance of the Interlagos circuit was reminiscent of his team mates career, as Michael Schumacher made his final charge in a Formula One car. Fernando Alonso has become the youngest back-to-back World Champion and takes with him the coveted Number One to McLaren, and the knowledge that he has, once again, beaten Schumacher in a straight fight.

The race was one that, although may have led to slight anti-climax at its finale, will certainly be remembered for many reasons. Massa’s brilliant victory, Jenson clawing his way back from 14th on the grid to finish 3rd. A truly memorising and inspiring drive from Michael Schumacher. Lots of overtaking. Lots of cheers. Lots of tears. And lots to talk about.

Felipe Massa led from the start line through turn one, and everybody pretty much remained in position as the field charged down the hill. Michael Schumacher gained a place or two, but quickly all eyes were on the Williams pair – Mark Webber and Nico Rosberg – as one clouted the other. Webber retired on the spot, and Rosberg managed to continue until he eventually lost control and hit the wall hard, confirming the end of his race.

By lap two, Schumacher was clearly on a charge and had a very good car under him. When the safety car came out while Rosberg’s Williams was being recovered, the seven times World Champion was in seventh. The race was on, most definitely. With Schumacher behind Renault’s Giancarlo Fisichella, the safety car came in and Michael set about passing the Roman. At turn one on lap 9, Michael made his move and Fisichella didn’t make it easy. Michael managed his way pass, but debris from the start of the race caused a left-rear puncture on the Ferrari. Some excellent car control stopped Michael running off the track, but this put an end to any chance Michael had of going out in a blaze of glory. The German had to negotiate another entire lap of the circuit before finally entering the pitlane. Surely, it was over?

Well, I wouldn’t bet against Schumacher, not even in his final race. And the drive that followed Michael’s unscheduled pit stop was absolutely stunning. When he rejoined the track, he was in 20th and last place. As Michael rejoined the race on lap twelve, both Toyota’s pealed into the pits and retired with identical failures on each car. This is something that made BMW happy as they were now assured to beat them to fifth in the Constructors race. Unfortunately though, after a strong performance in practice and qualifying, the BMW’s just went backwards in the race. Heidfeld retired close to the end, and Kubica could only manage 9th. Fifth in the Constructors race is nothing to be disappointed at though, and BMW have done well this year, despite all the ups and downs!

Massa continued to extend his gap over second place driver Kimi Raikkonen, and by lap 18 had a ten second cushion over his 2007 team mate. The first round of pit stops shook everything up for a while, but one thing that remained constant was Michael Schumacher’s charge through the field, and by lap 33 he was up to tenth place. The German driver was on the limit, and made a couple of errors during the course of this comeback. Nothing serious though, and nothing a slow tip-toe around the outside of a corner didn’t heal. However, a series of fastest laps complimented the fastest laps posted by his young team mate Felipe Massa, who was enjoying the lead of his home race and in front of his adoring home fans.

On lap 63, Schumacher was up to 6th and piling the pressure once again on Renault’s number two, Fisichella. Alonso was in second after outwitting McLaren in the pit stops, and was behind a resurgent Button in 4th. Fisichella out braked himself into turn one though, and Schumacher sailed by. Schumacher’s charge continued and he managed to pass Raikkonen who also made it difficult for the retiring driver. But Michael couldn’t make any more headway before Massa completed his final lap to win his home race. Fernando became World Champion and Michael Schumacher finished 4th.

An exhilirating race that saw fantastic drives from the past and the future of Formula One champions. It doesn’t get much better than that…

Although it wasn’t one of Fernando Alonso’s finest performances, and although it wasn’t one of the greatest Japanese Grand Prix in memory, it was a very important afternoon for the Renault lad. While Schumacher can still mathematically win the 2006 World Championship, it seems very unlikely that the seven times champion will be able to make it eight.

Because of this fact, and without wanting to celebrate something before it is actually confirmed, Alonso ‘quietly’ enjoyed his podium at Suzuka.

In a race that was billed as the decider of the 2006 season (despite Japan being the penultimate Grand Prix), Fernando Alonso has taken maximum points to put himself ten ahead of his rival Michael Schumacher. This result puts Alonso in an almost unnassailable position heading into Brazil in a fortnight, and while it is still possible for Schumacher to take the title in his swansong year, the target is very far out of reach.

After yesterdays qualifying it seemed Ferrari had it all sorted. The Italian squad were on a roll following several wins from their man, and while Felipe Massa got the script a little wrong, it was an all-Ferrari front-row. What made the result even more sweet for the Scuderia was that Toyota were aiming for a corporate pole, but ended up squeezing themselves inbetween Ferrari and Renault.

However, race day is always a different day, and from the start it was clear that Renault did have pace and would be able to challenge the Ferrari’s. Massa led Schumacher through turn one, and Fernando Alonso made up one place by keeping to the inside line and passing Jarno Trulli. Alonso kept the gap to Michael at about 5 seconds and even managed to pass the second Toyota of Ralf Schumacher just prior to the first round of pitstops. Felipe Massa fixed the script-error on lap two by backing off down the pit-straight and allowing his team mate to pass down into the first corner.

From the second stint onwards, Alonso piled on the pressure and kept harrasing the 5 second gap to Schumacher. The Spaniard managed to close it down to 4 seconds, but traffic played against him at times and the distance between the Renault and Ferrari fluctuated, but never strayed to far from 5 seconds. With the gap remaining pretty much the same during the second phase, Alonso pitted again on lap 36. A fading Massa comes in on the same lap and the team re-prepare themselves for the race and championship leader Michael Schumacher on the following lap. The German makes a quick stop and heads back out onto the Suzuka tarmac in the lead. But on lap 37 and while heading through the Degna curves, smoke pours out of the back of the Ferrari and Schumacher pulls off to the side of circuit. It is the first Ferrari engine failure since the 2001 US Grand Prix.

So victory was handed to Fernando Alonso, but the reigning champion worked hard for it today. With a car that initially seemed to be out of touch with the Ferrari’s, Fernando drove very well in the first two stints, and while the win seemed out of his reach, he was doing a great job of damage-limitation. However, the rare failure from Ferrari means that the only way Alonso can be beaten is if Schumacher wins the Brazilian Grand Prix and Alonso fails to score even one point. Not impossible, as we have seen a failure and win from both rivals in recent races. But it is a mountainous task for Michael, and the scenes of the Ferrari garage this afternoon look like a beaten Schumacher consoling his family. With handshakes and hugs Michael thanked each team member individually before making his way out to the pit wall to share Felipe’s podium finish.

So Fernando reclaims the lead in the championship and is just one point away from becoming a two-times world champion back-to-back. At last the young Spaniard can relax a little and apologise to his team for all those nasty comments made in the build up to this momentous – but sadly – final Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka.

Takuma Sato’s move caused Rubens Barrichello and Nick Heidfeld to have spins just prior to completing to final lap, and Pedro De La Rosa was promoted after passing them.

Christijan Albers was also punished for ignoring blue flags during the race and not moving out of the way of faster cars lapping the Spyker driver. For this offence though, Albers received a 25 second penalty added to his total race time. The reason behind his different punishment to Sato’s is because it is a first offence for Albers, whereas Sato has been in trouble earlier in the season.

Despite having a 25 second penalty added to his race time, Albers actually went from 16th to 15th because of Takuma Sato’s exclusion.

In what should have been a Renault-dominated Chinese Grand Prix, Michael Schumacher has stormed to his 91st win, and is now on 116 points in the Drivers Title, matching his rival Fernando Alonso. After a wet qualifying yesterday, Renault showed their dominance with Michelin tyres and cruised to a 1-2 on the grid, leaving Ferrari pilot Schumacher floundering in 6th with his Bridgestone-shod car.

With the circuit remaining wet for the race, it looked as though Alonso would skate away to victory and leave Schumacher in a plume of water. And after the start, everything was going Renault’s way as Alonso pulled out a 25 second gap by the time his first pit stop came around. Unfortunately, the track had started to dry out during this first stint, and Schumacher’s Bridgestones were starting to work better. Although Alonso had pulled out a large gap, Schumacher was recaiming it by the time they stopped for the first time.

By the time the second round of pit stops looms, Alonso has lost his lead to Giancarlo Fisichello, who could wait no more behind his team mate. Renault handed responsibility to Fisichella to defend Alonso’s crown as the Spaniard struggled on new front inrtermediates and worn rears. Michael Schumacher has sensed victory and is driving the wheels of his Ferrari. Alonso’s race goes from bad to worse when he encounters a problem in the pit lane. While changing from intermediates to slicks, the left-rear nut gets stuck and Fernando has to endure an 18 second stop.

On lap 41, Schumacher squeezes past Fisichella to take the lead after the Roman driver slowly got back up tp speed on his slick tyres. Five laps later, David Coulthard clouts the second Ferrari of Felipe Massa and Schumacher’s rear-gunner retires from the race.

And on the final lap, despite a great charge from Alonso, Schumacher takes his 91st career victory, and moves on to tie with Alonso in the Drivers Title. Although official, Michael Schumacher is ahead of Alonso because the German has won 7 races to the Spaniard’s 6.

Button takes 4th place as he sneaks pass his team mate Rubens Barrichello and BMW driver Nick Heidfeld on the final lap. And Pedro De La Rosa capitalises on the traffic and passes the two drivers as well as they get caught out and spin on the ever-increasingly wet track.

With two races to go, the championship is almost as close as it can be, and the rivalry is as intense as could possibly be with Schumacher riding the successful wave, determined to bow out in style, and Alonso desparately working hard to take the number one insignia to McLaren next year.

But in the course of the race, more drama occured that could spell bad news for Renault for the rest of the campaign.

From the start, Kimi Raikkonen led away from pole, but Nick Heidfeld made hay on Schumacher and the pair went down to the first chicane side by side. Nick relented and allowed Michael to go through in to second, and Heidfeld’s team mate Robert Kubica came storming up the inside and came out of turn one considerably nearer the front than he was in qualifying.

From his excellent start, Heidfeld seemed to fade and the opposite happened to his vastly inexperienced team mate, who went on to secure the teams second podium this year. From a Renault point of view, the race didn’t go too well. Giancarlo Fisichella was gambling on a one-stop strategy and didn’t really feature too much at the front until the race came into its closing stages. But even then he wasn’t within a chance of winning against the Ferrari and the McLaren. The current championship leader Fernando Alonso was driving well after initially being held up by an under-performing jenson Button. Unfortunately, whilst gaining on Felipe Massa and Robert Kubica, Alonso’s engine blew and the Spaniard was forced to pull of the track at turn one. This engine failure left a lot of fluid on the track and this is the cause of Massa’s huge lock-up. The Bridgestone tyre on Massa’s Ferrari delaminated and Massa was forced to pit, gracing Fisichella a fourth place.

Jenson Button managed to finish ahead of his team mate Rubens Barrichello in 5th and 6th respectivelly, although both drivers had rather uneventful races. Jarno Trulli picks up another two points for Toyota and Heidfeld finished in 8th place adding to Kubica’s haul.

The words of Fernando Alonso this morning as he publicly protests his grid penalty following an alleged blocking attempt on Felipe Massa from Ferrari yesterday during qualifying.

Fernando Alonso is clearly upset about the situation, and the penalty makes his job of beating Michael Schumacher very difficult today. At a press conference, Fernando spoke from his heart when he said the following:

I am a sportsman. I love sport, I love the fans. I don’t consider Formula One like a sport anymore.
Is this blocking anyone? If this is blocking I don’t understand how we can race today.

Pat Symonds – Renault Technical Director – believes the damaged Renault of Alonso actually helped Massa by giving him a tow down the straight, saying “Massa got a good tow. His speed was the fastest of the qualifying session. He got some advantage from it. I don’t understand the penalty, because we don’t feel we impeded him.”

Here’s the video.

Is Fernando correct, or is it a case of sour grapes? Have your say…

Following his alleged blocking of <tag>Felipe Massa</tag> during qualifying, <tag>Fernando Alonso</tag> has been demoted to tenth on the grid. Alonso was called to the stewards office after the Brazilian driver complained that the reigning <tag>F1</tag> World Champion had unnecessarily impeded his qualifying run.

Massa has suggested that he lost as much as three-tenths on his final lap in Q3, caused because Alonso didn’t allow enough space between himself and the Ferrari. Alonso initially protested his innocence, but the after reviewing the video evidence, the stewards have decided that Fernando Alonso had impeded Massa’s lap – albeit inadvertantly – and he has had his three fastest laps taken away.

This means Michael Schumacher will start eight places ahead of Alonso in the <tag>Italian Grand Prix</tag>, but that will not stop a hungry Alonso from fighting back in tomorrow’s clash.

After an eventful Turkish Grand Prix, Felipe Massa has won from Fernando Alonso and Michael Schumacher. This is Massa’s first win in 67 attempts, and the 25 year old Brazilian led from the start and looked mighty throughout the race, not allowing his team mate or championship leader Alonso to get even close.

The start of the race saw Alonso get a good run on Michael Schumacher, who darted over to the right almost immediately in an attempt to cover himself. This allowed Massa to simply drive away and let everyone else fight out the remainder of the positions. A spin from Giancarlo Fisichella in the Renault caused the field to bunch up and trip over each other. Numerous drivers were forced to pit for new nosecones, and this startline incident spelled the end for Kimi Raikkonen, who had been looking much better this weekend.

Although Kimi, who suffered a right-rear puncture after being tagged at the start, managed to get his car back to the pitlane, the flayling tyre caused untold amounts of damage to the rear structure of the car. McLaren even had a replacement rear wing ready for the Finnish driver when he came in for repairs. The team decided Kimi could go back out and continue, but the next we saw of him was a lap later in the tyre barrier.

Lap 13 saw Vitantonio Liuzzi in the Toro Rosso spin on the exit from turn one. Unfortunately, the car stalled in a precarious position, and the safety car was deployed to allow the marshalls to safely recover the vehicle. Cue pit stops. First in was Massa, immediately followed by Michael Schumacher who has to queue behind his team mate, and lastly, Alonso comes in for his stop. However, because Schumacher Snr has to queue behind Massa, he essentially has his pit stop at the same time as Alonso, and the Spaniard managed to get out in front of his rival in the Ferrari.

This moment essentially ruined Michael’s chances of success, the trio of drivers remained in this positions through to the chequered flag on lap 58. Towards the end of the race, Alonso seemed to pick up a lot of tyre wear and was visiably struggling. Schumacher screamed up behind the Renault, but Fernando just wouldn’t let him pass. The gap between the two drivers as they crossed the chequered flag was only a few thousandths of a second, but importantly, it was in Alonso’s favour.

Jenson Button finished in fourth, and team mate Rubens Barrichello came home in eighth after seemingly making more overtaking moves than everyone else put together. Pedro De La Rosa collected 4 points for McLaren, and led Giancarlo Fisichella and Ralf Schumacher home.

Fernando Alonso has now extended his championship lead by two points, but Renault are in danger in the Constructor’s title, with only two points separating the two teams at the top of the tables.

The news comes as a bitter blow to the Pole who had driven so well all weekend after being promoted in <tag>Jacques Villeneuve</tag>’s absence.

The error in weight has been attributed to excessive tyre wear caused by the teams having to run on intermediates as opposed to the well-rehearsed runs on dry/grooved tyres.

In a statement, the stewards had this to say:

The Stewards accept that the fact of the car being underweight was entirely inadvertent and give credit to BMW Sauber F1 Team for their assistance and cooperation in dealing with this matter.

The reason for the car being underweight was explained as being attributable to excessive and unexpected tyre wear (and therefore weight loss) arising through continued use of wet weather tyres in comparison to the accustomed and anticipated rate of wear for dry tyres.

It is the Stewards’ view that the car did not comply with Article 4.1 of the 2006 <tag>FIA</tag> <tag>Formula One</tag> Technical Regulations.

The Stewards’ decision is that the car be excluded from the results.

The disqualification of Robert Kubica promotes <tag>Felipe Massa</tag> to 7th, and <tag>Michael Schumacher</tag> to 8th, despite not even taking the chequered flag. Although Schumacher didn’t actually finish the race, he was oficially classified 9th before the promotion because of lapped traffic. The championship lead to <tag>Fernando Alonso</tag> is now just ten points with five races remaining.

From the start, the circuit in Budapest was going to produce an excellent race after <tag>Michael Schumacher</tag> and <tag>Fernando Alonso</tag> started back in 11th and 15th respectively following penalties imposed for passing under red and yellow flags and dangerous driving in practice sessions. But no one could have written a script for the 2006 Grand Prix, which saw spins from Schumacher, <tag>Kimi Raikkonen</tag> rear-ending <tag>Vitantonio Liuzzi</tag> and Fernando Alonso suffering a driveshaft failure forcing the Spaniard to retire from the lead.

The start of the race saw both championship contenders leap up the field, but Alonso was determined to not lose sight of Schumacher, and both drivers set about gaining maximum points from Hungary. However, <tag>Mark Webber</tag> was one of the first notable retirees, quickly followed by <tag>Christian Klien</tag> in the <tag>Red Bull</tag>.

The overtaking move of the race goes again to Alonso, who managed to skirt around the outside of his rival Schumacher on lap four, again emphasising that he is a very competitive and very hungry reigning champion. <tag>Giancarlo Fisichella</tag> – however – didn’t manage as clean a pass as his team mate, and when the Italian made his move on Schumacher, the <tag>Ferrari</tag> ended up loosing its front wing. Fisichella powered on, his <tag>Renault</tag> seemingly unhurt, but retired a few corners up the track from spinning off in the wet conditions.

The next serious retirement happened on lap 26 when Raikkonen and Liuzzi come to blows on the tarmac. From the TV footage, it appeared that Liuzzi backed off as he exited the corner, which caught the Flying Finn by surprise, who was in turn coming under pressure from team mate <tag>Pedro De La Rosa</tag>. The net result was a collision that retired both the <tag>Toro Rosso</tag> and <tag>McLaren</tag> drivers. Raikkonen had this to say afterwards:

We just hit each other. Vitantonio wanted to let me pass and I was trying let Pedro pass.

Vitantonio echoed the sense of it being a simple driving incident, saying:

…I went wide, trying to let him by before the chicane. Probably, he did not expect me to slow at this point and so he ran into the back of me. This track is really tight and twisty and I was really trying to move over to let him by. It was a misunderstanding and I’m sorry as it ruined both our races.

Five laps from the chequered flag saw McLaren’s Pedro De La Rosa cut the gap to Michael Schumacher. Pedro made a few attempts down into turn one, and Michael eventually had to allow the McLaren to pass. But Schumacher ended up straight-lining the chicane and came out in front. At this point Schumacher should have conceded the position as De La Rosa would have passed under normal racing. Schumacher slowed but then appeared to change his mind and got back on the gas. Furiously, De La Rosa backed off initially and then made the same move again on the following lap. This time, the Spaniard forced his way through without question or further incident. This whole sequence of moves allowed <tag>Nick Heidfeld</tag> to gain on the Ferrari’s gearbox, and the <tag>BMW</tag> driver made a carbon-copy of De La Rosa’s move. However, Schumacher didn’t leave enough room and it seems that they make contact (although it wasn’t clear on the TV footage), the result of which forced the seven time World Champion to retire.

Other great drives came from Polish driver <tag>Robert Kubica</tag> who was drving in his debut Grand Prix and finished seventh, claiming two points for BMW, who must be seriously thinking why they have been paying <tag>Jacques Villeneuve</tag> a bundle of money for few results so far this season. Although Kubica did have a couple of spins, when put into the context of the race which also saw Alonso and Schumacher have similar incidents, Kubica showed real class on the Hungaroring today. And his points compliment the six that team mate Heidfeld gained from finishing third on the podium.

On a track that saw <tag>Damon Hill</tag> claim his first win in 1993, and Fernando Alonso take his maiden victory in 2003, the <tag>Hungaroring</tag> has again offered another exciting race that allowed a great driver to prove himself by taking maximum points and maximum pride in his performance.

At least I wasn’t too wrong with this prediction made back in February before the 2006 season got underway.

In a session that saw penalties given to seven times champion <tag>Michael Schumacher</tag> and current reigning champ <tag>Fernando Alonso</tag>, all eyes were on <tag>Ferrari</tag> and <tag>Renault</tag> number twos to pick up the pieces.

Initially, Massa set some stunning laps and really impressed keeping his scarlet car up at the top of the time sheets. <tag>Giancarlo Fisichella</tag> didn’t fair as well though, only managing seventh in the final standings. But one young man that stood out from the rest was <tag>Robert Kubica</tag> in the <tag>BMW Sauber</tag>. Standing in for ‘injured’ <tag>Jacques Villeneuve</tag>, he beat his experienced team mate <tag>Nick Heidfeld</tag> in each session, crucially getting himself into the final 10 ahead of the German. Robert – the first Pole in <tag>F1</tag> – finally ended up ninth, and after <tag>Jenson Button</tag> was demoted for his engine change, Heidfeld was promoted to tenth. A stunning performance from the 22 year old, and Robert is for sure going to be in <tag>Formula One</tag> for a good long while – bad news for the 1997 world champion.

Michael Schumacher finished 11th after adding on his two seconds for passing under red flags earlier today. Alonso managed 15th and has the Ferrari powered Red Bulls between him and the Ferrari, as well the <tag>Honda</tag> of Jenson Button. However, the might of Ferrari has been proven by Schumacher setting a lap that was astonishingly quick in session two. In comparison, the fastest lap set during the hour was Massa in session two with 1m 19.504s. Alonso managed 1m 19.364s. Schumacher set 1m 18.875s. Both those lap times are obviously before the penalties were added and shows the incredible pace of the Ferrari under Michael Schumacher.

So on that note, Schumacher starting in 11th isn’t the end of the world, giving the fact he can fill up his car exactly as he wants and drive whatever strategy he choses. So unless Raikkonen skamps off into the distance tomorrow, my money is on a fourth straight victory for the chasing champion.

Championship leader <tag>Fernando Alonso</tag> has been given two penalties after an altercation in free practice in Hungary with <tag>Red Bull</tag> tester <tag>Robert Doornbos</tag>. Alonso will have two seconds added to each of his fastest laps (in each qualy session) because of dangerous driving and overtaking under yellow flags.

Initially, both drivers were summoned to the stewards office to give their account of the incident. It appears that Alonso brake-tested the Dutchman after completing a fast lap, gesticulating furiously in the process. After the initial meeting, Fernando was recalled to another meeting without Doornbos, after which Alonso said:

[I am] totally surprised by the last ten minutes. The same things happen in every test, every practice and every race, but for some reason, this weekend it seems important.

This incident and repercussions will likely result in Alonso not getting into the second session of qualifying, and will thus mean the Spaniard will start from (at best) in 17th place. With <tag>Ferrari</tag> and <tag>Michael Schumacher</tag> looking pretty mighty at the moment, and <tag>Renault</tag> backing down on the implementation of their Mass Damper system (which enables a better balance on the car), Alonso is going to have a very tough <tag>Formula One</tag> race on Sunday.
It wouldn’t surprise me if Renault counted their losses and changed his engine as well, demoting him to 22nd, but giving him a fresh V8 and bucket-loads of fuel.
