Why Drivers Take Their Hands Off The Wheel In An Accident

Posted on June 26th, 2008 by Oliver White

During yesterday’s pre-British Grand Prix test at Silverstone, Giancarlo Fisichella suffered a fairly sizable impact at the Becketts Complex in his Force India. While testing out some modifications to the car, it would seem as though the Italian was caught by a strong gust of wind that unstabilised the car and led to an impact with the barrier. Fisichella was taken to hospital for checks, and although the previous grand prix winner said he was fine, the medics paid particular attention to his wrists: Giancarlo did not take his hands off the steering wheel. Posted on December 22nd, 2006 by Oliver White

It seems too far into the future to be discussing the 2009 championship, but in reality it is only two years away, and while much may change in that time, the make up of the season is already beginning to take shape, particulrly the rules. Alonso Takes Title As Massa Wins

Posted on October 22nd, 2006 by Oliver White

Felipe Massa Wins 2006 Brazilian Grnd PrixFelipe Massa has won his home race at Interlagos in Brazil, leading Formula One World Champion Fernando Alonso over the line, with Jenson Button taking third place in an exciting, memorable and emotional Brazilian Grand Prix.

The scenes of shear pleasure that exuded from Massa as he jumped on his mechanics in Parc Ferme will remain with the 25 year old Ferrari driver for as long as he lives. Massa drove a sublime race that saw him lead from pole position to chequered flag. His dominance of the Interlagos circuit was reminiscent of his team mates career, as Michael Schumacher made his final charge in a Formula One car. Fernando Alonso has become the youngest back-to-back World Champion and takes with him the coveted Number One to McLaren, and the knowledge that he has, once again, beaten Schumacher in a straight fight.

Alonso’s Japanese Win In Pictures

Posted on October 8th, 2006 by Oliver White

Although it wasn’t one of Fernando Alonso’s finest performances, and although it wasn’t one of the greatest Japanese Grand Prix in memory, it was a very important afternoon for the Renault lad. While Schumacher can still mathematically win the 2006 World Championship, it seems very unlikely that the seven times champion will be able to make it eight.

Because of this fact, and without wanting to celebrate something before it is actually confirmed, Alonso ‘quietly’ enjoyed his podium at Suzuka.

Alonso Capitalises On Rare Ferrari Failure

Posted on October 8th, 2006 by Oliver White

Fernando Alonso Enjoys His Japanese WinIn a race that was billed as the decider of the 2006 season (despite Japan being the penultimate Grand Prix), Fernando Alonso has taken maximum points to put himself ten ahead of his rival Michael Schumacher. This result puts Alonso in an almost unnassailable position heading into Brazil in a fortnight, and while it is still possible for Schumacher to take the title in his swansong year, the target is very far out of reach.

After yesterdays qualifying it seemed Ferrari had it all sorted. The Italian squad were on a roll following several wins from their man, and while Felipe Massa got the script a little wrong, it was an all-Ferrari front-row. What made the result even more sweet for the Scuderia was that Toyota were aiming for a corporate pole, but ended up squeezing themselves inbetween Ferrari and Renault.
