The British Grand Prix has passed, as has the Le Mans 24 Hour, and that means along with longer evenings and sunnier afternoons, the Goodwood Festival Of Speed must be drawing close. And indeed it is, taking place on the grounds surrounding Goodwood House this upcoming weekend. Clutching At Straws: Mosley Isn’t Ready To Rule Out Re-Election

Just when Formula One appeared to be coming out of the darkness and heading towards the bright future of cooperation, Max Mosley has decided to cast doubt on it all once again, this time by reacting angrily to claims made by FOTA since the deal on Wednesday was made. Breakaway Averted: Max Mosley Will Not Stand Again

Following a series of meetings held ahead of today’s World Motor Sport Council meeting in Paris, it has been announced that a compromise has been reached between the FOTA teams and the FIA. The deal will see FOTA’s proposals of cutting costs implemented, which appears to have the blessing of the new entrants as well. Silverstone 2009: Red Bull Triumph As Brawn Struggle

Sebastian Vettel has won the British Grand Prix at Silverstone in a dominant fashion, leading from the first lap and stamping his authority over team mate Mark Webber. Brawn it seemed were on their back foot although Rubens Barrichello managed to salvage a podium finish and Jenson Button eventually came home in sixth. Elsewhere in the field, we saw good races from Nico Rosberg and Giancarlo Fisichella as well as a great fight between Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton. Continue Reading…

BMW Abandon KERS For Good: Isn’t It Now Formula One’s Turn?

Kinetic Energy Recovery Systems were introduced this year as a way of making the sport of Formula One greener, more applicable to every-day motorists and to add to the spectacle of the sport through the re-distribution of the saved energy. However, few teams have adopted the technology and those that have are slowly ceasing its use on their cars. Silverstone 2009: Sebastian Vettel Romps To British Pole

Red Bull Racing pilot Sebastian Vettel has comfortably taken pole position for tomorrow’s British Grand Prix at Silverstone. The German was fastest of all in the second session as well as the crucial third run, which saw him take the top spot from Brawn’s Rubens Barrichello by 0.347s. Vettel’s team mate Mark Webber completed the top three and Jarno Trulli joined the party by qualifying his Toyota in fourth. Continue Reading…

Formula One To Split As Talks Between FIA & FOTA Fail

The eight remaining teams that make up the Formula One Teams Association have decided to set up a new racing series following the failure to reach an agreement with the FIA over the 2010 World Championship. While this news has been building and building in recent weeks, the announcement – made at midnight this morning – is still a shock and will undoubtedly overshadow the British Grand Prix this weekend. Turkey 2009: Jenson Button Takes Sixth Victory From Seven Attempts

Jenson Button has won the Turkish Grand Prix in dominant fashion after he managed to get ahead of Sebastian Vettel on the first lap. Stopping twice Button’s initial pressure came from Vettel, then Webber as the German slipped behind his team mate. It wasn’t a perfect race for Brawn though as they suffered their first retirement of the season, Rubens Barrichello parking the car in the garage after issues with his gearbox. Continue Reading…

Turkey 2009: Sebastian Vettel Takes Pole Position Ahead Of The Brawns

Sebastian Vettel has taken his second pole position of the 2009 Formula One World Championship, claiming the place ahead of both Brawn cars and his team mate, Mark Webber. Qualifying saw another early exit for Lewis Hamilton, while similarly powered Adrian Sutil in the Force India managed to get through to Q2. Max Mosley Suggests That The FIA Are Not About To Bow To Demands

Speaking to Swiss publication Motorsport Aktuell, FIA president Max Mosley has hinted that the FIA are not about to bow in to the conditions placed on the entries of the nine teams currently making up the Formula One Teams Association. Back in late May, the FOTA-9 submitted their entries, but demanded that the 2010 rules be based on the 2009 set, and that their entries be accepted in whole. Continue Reading…
