The ninety-first photograph to feature in BlogF1’s caption contest. You know the drill, think of something funny and witty to say and leave it as a comment below. I’m not entirely sure what is going on, but BlogF1 appears to have been taken over by Nick Heidfeld fans who are intent on publishing photos of the BMW driver in odd situations that would be ideal for captioning. Currently, Ollie is tracking down the perpetrator/s and thinks they might be located somewhere inside his own mind. While the investigations continue though, please feel free to pass the time by adding amusing lines to the image… Continue Reading…

While at the Circuit de Catalunya yesterday the Faenza-based Scuderia Toro Rosso team unveiled the fourth car to be built by the team. The STR4 was shown the press ahead of it’s public debut with Sebastien Bourdais. The car had taken part in a private shakedown at the Adria circuit last week, and after 96 laps on Monday, Bourdais finished in a respectable sixth. The car continues the Red Bull livery and will be driven by Sebastiens Bourdais and Buemi. Continue Reading…

Given everything that has happened in the past few months regarding Honda and the subsequent stories of buyouts and takeover deals, today is a pretty momentous day. The photographs of Jenson Button driving a Formula One car around Silverstone are pleasing to the eye and undoubtedly it was an emotional day for Ross Brawn and all at Brackley. The team may have been reborn, and while Brawn says the biggest hurdle has been tackled, there will be many, many more. But for now, let’s rejoice in the fact that Formula One will have twenty drivers competing in 2009, made up of ten teams and millions of fans. Continue Reading…

Although among the last of the cars to be launched, Force India’s 2009 challenger, the VJM02, was given a shakedown at Silverstone earlier in the week. Today, photographs of the short test as well as some studio images that show the squad’s new livery have been spreading around the Internet. It is currently unclear as to whether or not this was intentional, as the team were supposed to be revealing the car tomorrow just prior to the group test at Jerez. Continue Reading…

Although it has been leaked twice already, Williams finally unveiled their 2009 livery at a media function held within the team’s factory in Oxfordshire a couple of days ago. The final version of the livery is quite different to what we have seen previously, the blue having been lightened a little. The car also featured horns sprouting up the sides of the air intake, named skate fins by the team. The idea behind the new part is to help channel air towards the rear wing. There was talk of how these could be allowed given the new regulations prohibiting such “flip-ups” and “winglets”. However, as they unlikely produce any downforce, one can presume they are allowed. It would seem as though Allianz, sponsor of the Williams team, have posted photos of the new livery that will adorn the FW31 car this season. On their Formula One site, they have put up nine images taken at the Autódromo Internacional do Algarve near Portimão in Portugal. The photographs depict a style not too far removed from Williams’s recent liveries, using blue and white as the base colours. The livery looks fantastic, although why the team do not just use their much loved testing livery is beyond me. Continue Reading…

Red Bull Racing this morning took the wraps of their 2009 contender, the Adrian Newey designed RB5. The Jerez circuit in Spain provided the backdrop as Sebastian Vettel took the machine out for a few installation laps. The RB5 is the third chassis to be penned by Newey for the team, their fifth since taking over from Jaguar in 2005. Mark Webber was also present and is expected to return to driving on Wednesday following his cycling accident 11 weeks ago that left him with a broken leg. Continue Reading…

Before Honda owned the team they just about still do, the squad were owned by BAT and were called BAR. The cigarette company purchased the team from Ken Tyrrell, who himself had been a constructor in Formula One from 1970, famously winning the driver’s title with Jackie Stewart on two occasions and the constructors once. Although Tyrrell’s success was never to be repeated with the future owners, Honda did manage a race win in 2006, the squad’s only real triumph since 1999. Continue Reading…

BMW became the most recent team to unveil their 2009 challenger to the world, named the F1.09 and being photographed at the Valencia track in Spain. The team were on hand to talk about the new car and Robert Kubica was given the maiden drive as the Pole completed a few installation laps to ensure everything was working. Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the BMW F1.09, as the team have been testing an interim car for much of the winter. Continue Reading…

Given the popularity of the Toyota Livery Development post from Thursday last week, and also given that Sidepodcast have made a request, here’s a quick run down of Renault’s liveries over the years. Of course, the French marque have set themselves a standard just as Toyota have, although Renault are clearly not afraid to experiment with their choice of colours, which can be clearly seen with the 2009 livery unveiled earlier today. Let’s just say, the days of the blue and yellow were much kinder to my eyes… Continue Reading…
