  • Singapore 2009: Race Result

After an interesting race around the streets of downtown Singapore, Lewis Hamilton has added to his victory tally with a lights to flag win. Timo Glock gave the Toyota board something to talk about after the German driver came through to second with a mature drive and Fernando Alonso took third for the embattled Renault team. Jenson Button lost out to Sebastian Vettel but crucially managed to keep ahead of his team mate Rubens Barrichello.

      Singapore 2009 Hot and Cold

The best part of the weekend was seeing the cars slide through the corners and looking at the architecture that surrounds the track.

The race was kind of boring with just a few moments of excitement. McLaren must be pleased. The Brawns paced themselves to collect points. The Red Bulls seemed desperate and Toyota had a surprising result.

The rest of the weekend will be forgotten by all except Rosberg.

Really visually spectacular race but honestly not the most interesting! I 100% agree with Ted.

    4. September 29th, 2009 - 8:43pm

OK, i get it – sebastian vettel’s title dreams are over. unless he wins all 3 next races and jenson button gets no more than 4 points.

      Mr. Spock would say…

” A statistically improbable situation Captain….possible but highly unlikely “.

      Spock was always right.

Maths are strange sometimes but 3 wins are not required.

      1win + 2 second =26 pts if JB =0 that works

      2 wins + 1 third = 26pts if JB =0 that works too
      2 wins + 1 second = 28 pts if JB <=2 that works too

so one single victory might do the trick ;)

Spoks sometimes was not totally right… but that is still highly unlikely,,,

There haven’t been any new stories since this one. Ollie, are you catching waves by any chance? :)

I love the way the F1-blogosphere looks out for one another, I really do. Trust me when I say that this is fairly unique to the F1 niche (when looking at blogging as a whole).

I have a post prepped for the end of the season, and until then, BlogF1 will continue on minimum entries – just the basic results.

I am surfing, but not as much as I would want to. I am also building a community online from this and am loving every second of it – who knew surfers were just as geeky as F1 fans!? :P

BlogF1 will continue, but this year has been interesting as I’ve pursued some other interests in the real world – something I didn’t really do as much in the past few years.

Alia, Ago, Pink, Everyone: BlogF1 will come back in or before the new year (and now I’ve said that, probably for Abu Dhabi!) and the captions will also likely make a comeback. I know I’ve been on a few breaks this season, but it seemed each time I returned I just wanted another break. Perhaps I should have let BF1 fallow this year, but I’m not sure I really could have done that. Anyway, before I post my end-of-season post in this comment box, I’ll just say that all is cool, thank you one and all, and I’ll be reactivated soon. :)

    9. October 2nd, 2009 - 2:48pm

Oh yeah, Alonso in a Ferrari. Didn’t see that one coming! :D

Where do we think Kimi will end up in 2010? A McLaren, a rally car, a bar in downtown Helsinki?

    10. October 2nd, 2009 - 4:06pm

I understand Kimi is going to start his own Blog site called RobotBlog F1….

      “Da…car…ezz…just…OK…and…eeet…ezz…goeeng…too… bee…deefawkult…too…geta…reezult…Looeese…willbee… a…challenjaw…but…dat…ezz…ok2…wee…doo…da…bezst… job…we…can…doo…2day…Eye…tink…not…poss…abull… toowin…but…we…wil…see”

I thank him for what he brought to Formula One during his time and hope he will walk away and find solitude in knowing that he was amongst the best when racing and that he gave us some really interesting interviews. He came to F1 in a breeze and now it seems like he is leaving in the same fashion. Retire as a Ferrari World Champion.

    11. October 2nd, 2009 - 8:37pm

Excuse me while I add a line-break to Ted’s rendition of Kimi so it no longer breaks the site (in FF 3.5 at least). :D

It’s one of the reasons I like spending so much time here (the F1-blogosphere generally and here in particular) :)

That explains a lot. Building an online community takes a lot of effort. Best of luck with it and hope the surfing community appreciates you and your talents as much as we do.

I will look forward to it :)

    15. October 3rd, 2009 - 2:42am

Sorry Oliver if the attempt to humor Kimi has caused somekind of computer problem that we the elderly simply don’t understand…

“breaks the site in FF3.5″ ????

      What??

    16. October 3rd, 2009 - 3:04am

Oh, no biggy, no problem. :)

There were no spaces in the entire text, and the website didn’t auto-break the line. Imagine typing in a word-processor, the software automatically moves words down a line if it gets too close to the right-hand margin. Either that or it will hyphenate the word, depending on preferences, I guess.

BlogF1 isn’t that clever and your text streamed across the page until it got to the right-hand dark grey border where it disappeared. I must have an ultimate “overflow:hide” in the code somewhere. So in my browser at least (Firefox v3.5), the Kimi-speak couldn’t be read properly, causing me to blame my site and my inadequate coding. :)

It really wasn’t a problem, I promise. I just added a couple of spaces so it could be read by as many people as possible.

      Note to self: Must.Code.Better…Must.Code.Better…Must.Code.Better…Must.Code.Better…Must.Code.Better…Must.Code.Better…Must.Code.Better…Must.Code.Better…Must.Code.Better…Must.Code.Better…

Edit: Text doesn’t disappear, it’s just the same colour as the background. What can I say, it’s late where I am. :)

    17. October 3rd, 2009 - 3:35pm

Is it late or is it early? ;)

    18. October 3rd, 2009 - 5:16pm

Is it late or is it early? ;)

It is late, very late, I have to admit. So late I don’t even know what the actual time is. Which probably accounts for the mistakes on the posts today. :)

I asked because at the time you posted I’d been awake for half-an-hour…
