Max is right His understanding of Legal issues has benefited him greatly during his tenure; just as his understanding of playing dress up has helped him. As far as understanding “technical issues” Max needs to shut up everything he as done to F1 in relation to the technical side has hurt the sport. I think when he says he has not made a decision on whether or not he will run again for FIA president what he meant was “If I have not caused the sport to crumble down around me I will stay on with all the help of my friends

Anyone in a role too long goes stale. S&Max is no different, although I know he'd like to think he is.

Great article Oliver. I agree, it is high time for a new president, but what about all this transition stuff? Should he remain to see it through? Could the new guy/gal coming in handle all of this properly? I guess we have to wait and see. :D

Good post, Oliver.

Thanks Mike!

Most democratic countries manage to change leadership in the midst of problems and they typically survive. I don’t see why the FIA could not do the same and maybe even thrive afterwards.

I agree. Organisations like the FIA need a breath of fresh air every now and then, a new look from a different perspective. After Mosley, any new president will only be allowed to serve for two terms - a new rule written in - but it only comes into effect after Mosley resigns/does not get re-elected. And that could be another five years from now...

Good post, Oliver.

I also wonder if Max will not go for another term citing the current slate of crisis facing the sport and the FIA. Of course, challenges and problems are not reasons to keep leadership the same. Most democratic countries manage to change leadership in the midst of problems and they typically survive. I don't see why the FIA could not do the same and maybe even thrive afterwards.
