Hi Vi84 it is NOW only a test track but it was designed to be the best circuit in France.
I have seen many international races at this track. Moto GPs and F1 GPs. Bugatti circuit in le Mans is boring, Rouen doen't exist really... For me the best place (from a pure racing point of view) is Le Castellet. Now in terms of financing the event and politics I don't have a clue ;-)

@Ago:
but don't forget that Paul Ricard misses stands, because it is only a test track. Anyway, I think Bernie will not have any problem asking the owner (himself eh eh...) to build stands. The fact is that he is trying to held a city race in Paris, as he did in Valencia and Singapore (and will do in Abu Dhabi next year) ;-)

The best place is obviously (for me!) Le Castellet aka Paul Ricard. It is a very nice track in a very nice area. It has been hosting F1 and MotoGP for ages since the 70's and until 1990. There are many other tracks in France but Le Castellet is a great place.

or type "Circuit Paul Ricard, 83330 Le Castellet, France" in Google Earth and see for yourself!

Paris is the obvious solution since B. Ecclestone prefers it and it has all the appropriate infrastructure in place. That said, Le Mans would be cool just for its history...as would Rouen. But wherever it's held, France deserves a Grand Prix. The sport would be less attractive without an event in France.
