Indianapolis 2009 Is 50:50 According To George

Posted on May 29th, 2008 by Oliver White

Formula One lost the US Grand Prix for this year, negotiations between Indianapolis Speedway boss Tony George and F1 ‘boss’ Bernie Ecclestone breaking down before an agreement could be reached. The loss of the race is a real shame and a blow for the sport, particularly the manufacturers who were enjoying the advertising in their largest market. But there have been hopes of Formula One returning to the brickyard, and today George said he is working on it, but despite this, it is still 50:50 at the moment. Continue Reading…

Does Takuma Sato Deserve Another Drive In Formula One?

Posted on May 28th, 2008 by Oliver White

Following the withdrawal of Super Aguri from the Formula One championship, two drivers are now faced with unemployment; Takuma Sato and Anthony Davidson. The British half of the folded team has been a long-time tester for Honda and his reward for his efforts were a full-time drive for Aguri in 2006 and 2007. Takuma Sato also had strong links with the Japanese car manufacturer, the team essentially being built to extend his career. But has Sato done enough to get a drive elsewhere? Continue Reading…

Ten Things You Need For Going To A Grand Prix

Posted on May 27th, 2008 by Oliver White

And perhaps surprisingly, it isn’t the names of the ten ladies sitting with Mark Webber there! With the British Grand Prix only just over the horizon, and Goodwood’s Festival Of Speed fast approaching, I thought it would be good to list some of the most essential items you need when venturing out to a circuit. As it is at the moment, the UK weather is fairly unpredictable, so I imagine it can be in other countries too. And with circuits often located in the middle of nowhere and simple necessities costing around about the same as my mortgage once inside the track, you don’t want to be forgetting anything. Just How Good Is Sebastian Vettel?

Posted on May 26th, 2008 by Oliver White

Born in 1987, Sebastian Vettel is among the youngest of all the Formula One drivers, the wiry built German having progressed to the sport’s highest echelon during the 2007 season with BMW. Vettel holds many records centred around his age, but he also holds the record for being the quickest driver to receive a fine, occurring only nine seconds into his career as he sped down the pit lane beyond the mandatory speed limit. Since starting with BMW and later, STR in 2007, he has gained a mixed reputation from fans and critics alike. Continue Reading…

Force India Moan As Sutil’s Stock Apparently Rises

Posted on May 25th, 2008 by Oliver White

Adrian Sutil drove a magnificent Monaco Grand Prix today, there can be little doubt about that. The Force India driver lined up at the back of the grid but somehow managed to threaten the top runners during the race. Sutil almost made it to the finish line before being taken out by reigning champion Kimi Raikkonen, the incident being little more than a simple racing accident. However, many people have said that Adrian’s sterling work today almost certainly cements his drive for next year. Is this really the case? Continue Reading…

Posted on May 24th, 2008 by Oliver White

In the second qualifying session at Monaco earlier today, David Coulthard lost control of his Red Bull and after clouting the barrier once, skidded down the escape road at the Harbour Chicane and thumped the wall for a second time. Unfortunately, the television cameras only picked up a stray wheel initially, but having seen a replay of the first part of the accident, it is understandable why Coulthard considers himself lucky to have not been seriously injured.
