I thought Bourdais would be the first to be 'promoted'. After all, he is a proven champion, albeit in a different category. But Vettel has shown some pretty astonishing pace in the last six or so races, and I do believe the kid has a bright future in the sport providing he makes the right moves and the right times.

It would be nice to know what Bourdais's contract says about the team(s)/company. If his contract is with STR, then UK legislation would demand the new owners honour the contract unless something can be agreed mutually. Of course, I doubt STR are registered in the UK so my point is kind of moot. If Bourdais was clever enough, the contract would be with the Red Bull company.

Speculation can now commence as to whether it will be Coulthard or Webber who are likely to be shown the door, or at minimum, voluntarily walk through it.

If Vettel has a contract with Red Bull for the next three years then, assuming they find a buyer, he will have to leave STR in the next year or so anyway - in that case I can see them switching him next year depending on other people's contracts.

Will be interesting to see what Bourdais' contract says - Red Bull or STR? If both DC and Webber are out of contract at the end of this year then perhaps we will see both Sebs promoted to RBR next season.
