  • Silverstone To Add 2,200 Extra Seats

Silverstone, the current home of the British Grand Prix, has announced plans to build another grandstand at the circuit, adding a further 2,200 seats for fans of motor sport and visitors to this summer’s race. The news comes after a sharp increase in ticket sales for the British Grand Prix, largely thanks to the huge popularity of Lewis Hamilton after his great debut season last year. A further three other British drivers and increased interest in the sport has added to the events popularity as well.

Interest in this year’s British Grand Prix has been overwhelming and we are having to build additional grandstand seating to accommodate the high levels of demand. Richard Phillips, Silverstone Managing Director.

Obviously this is good news for the circuit, who continually face threats of exclusion from Bernie Ecclestone. Silverstone have recently put forward plans to update and modernise the circuit, including altering the actual layout of the track and revamping the pit and paddock complex.

According to Autosport, tickets for the British Grand Prix weekend are almost sold out and some fans are already purchasing one-day tickets in prime locations to enjoy the practice sessions on Friday and qualifying on Saturday.
