  • Jimmy Stewart: 1931 – 2008

Following the sad news of Jimmy Stewart’s passing yesterday, BlogF1 would like offer condolences to the Stewart family. Jimmy, a one-time Grand Prix entrant and older brother of triple world champion Jackie, passed away aged 76. Jimmy encouraged his younger brother to take up motor racing with Tyrrell after his only F1 race, the 1953 British Grand Prix. He qualified 15th but retired after 79 laps. Following Formula One Jimmy took up sportscar racing but finally bowed out in 1955 after two accidents, one at Le Mans and Silverstone the other.

A private funeral is scheduled for Tuesday January 8th and a thanksgiving service will be held in February. Our thoughts are with Jimmy’s friends and family.
