Quite unbelievably, Lewis Hamilton is going to have a street named after him in his home town of Stevenage. The Borough Council have decided that Lewis is a role model and someone to look up to. His record-breaking debut year in Formula One has, according to the Council, put Stevenage on the map. The street will be positioned in a new city-centre development, although it is still unknown if Hamilton will purchase a property on the street. Continue Reading…

Every year, Formula One fans the world over bemoan the coverage of their beloved sport. Be it the broadcast from Bernie Ecclestone’s company, FOM, or be it each countries pre and post-race shows. The media aspect of Formula One also comes under fire with some regularity, with online viewing currently not being allowed and videos being taking down from all the popular sites. In fact, the only good thing I can see with the coverage is the official live-timing, but even then it sometimes slows down or doesn’t work as it should. So what can be done, what should be done, and what would we love to see in the future? Continue Reading…

Despite stating that he doesn’t want to win the world championship due to penalties imposed on other drivers, Lewis Hamilton’s team are pressing ahead with their appeal over the lack of punishment handed to Williams and BMW after their fuel was suggested to be outside the regulated temperature range. The stewards decided soon after the Brazilian Grand Prix that there wasn’t enough conclusive evidence to impose a penalty on both teams, and as such Kimi Raikkonen was declared the 2007 World Champion. However, should the result be changed as a consequence of McLaren’s appeal, then Hamilton could be promoted up the points order, robbing Raikkonen of his much deserved title and furthering the damage to Formula One. I don’t really do wrap-up posts or season reviews, partly due to the fact that other bloggers do them better and partly due to the diary of the season being laid out in the previous posts from each of the races. So I decided now would be a good time to talk about the off-season and what this time of year means to BlogF1. The photo of Mark Webber there is meant to depict relaxation by the way. It was the best I could find, honest! Continue Reading…

An astounding result in Brazil means Kimi Raikkonen has come from third in the standings to first and wins his first championship in style, ending the chances of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso stealing the trophy away to Woking. For Kimi, this title has come after much hard work and toiling away in unreliable cars. In fact, although previous boss Ron Dennis has congratulated his former driver, it must be a bitter pill to swallow for the man, especially after everything that has happened this year. However, championships are for celebrating, and what better memento to mark Kimi’s first title that a 1:18 replica model of his Ferrari F2007. Continue Reading…

The possible scuppering of Kimi Raikkonen’s championship has been finalised in the Finn’s favour. Although Raikkonen magnificently won the Brazilian Grand Prix with a little help from his team mate Felipe Massa, the legality of the BMWs and Williams put the celebrations on hold. Their cars were scrutinised with fuel temperatures lower than the mandatory 10 degrees less than ambient temperatures. However, the stewards have announced that no penalties would be handed out, thus confirming Raikkonen as the 2007 Formula One World Champion. Continue Reading…

In typical Formula One fashion, the title is not yet over. Despite winning the Brazilian Grand Prix a few hours ago, Kimi Raikkonen may not have won the title yet. The reason behind this lack of confirmation falls to the fuel temperature of both BMWs and both Williams, three of which cars finished ahead of Lewis Hamilton in the final positions in the Brazilian Grand Prix. Continue Reading…

Kimi Raikkonen has become the 2007 Formula One World Champion. In a hectic race where each of the top three could have won it, it was Raikkonen who led his team mate over the finish line to win his first Brazilian race and his first world champion. After so many close attempts, Kimi is a worthy champion, and after his convincing display today around Autodromo Carlos Pace, McLaren will be kicking themselves for letting it slip away. From the first lap, it looked as though Ferrari would dominate, but what happened over the course of the Grand Prix wasn’t what was expected. Continue Reading…
