  • Massa Finishes Silverstone Test On Top

Felipe Massa - Testing in 2007Driving his Ferrari F2007, Felipe Massa has completed the third day of the Silverstone test in first place with the fastest lap of 1m20.805s, 0.4s faster than second placed driver Nico Rosberg. Massa’s day didn’t pass without incident though, causing three red flags during his afternoon, comforting Fernando Alonso’s single flag-inducing incident. Speaking of the reigning World Champion, Alonso spent a good part of the morning tucked up in his garage while the McLaren mechanics worked on his MP4-22. When the Spaniard did energe, he could only manage the third fastest lap of the day, beating Nelson Piquet Jr. by 0.1s.

Jarno Trulli, who topped the tables yesterday, wound up behind Piquet Jr. in fifth, but was reasonably confident of the progress made by the Toyota team.

We’ve been reasonably quick here over the last three days but all that matters is what you can achieve at the races. So far the season hasn’t gone as well as we’d hoped but we will continue to push to get the best out of the package in the next few weeks.

I’m looking forward to coming to race at Silverstone because I believe that we should perform well here. But we still have three weeks to go and anything can change before then, including the weather. Jarno Trulli.

Again, the weather at Silverstone was intermittent and the occasional passing shower disrupted play momentarily. It didn’t stop Spyker fielding two cars again, but they really should have left Giedo Van Der Garde in the pitlane. After five laps, the Dutch driver returned with a throttle problem and spent the rest of the day under shelter.
