Lewis Hamilton - Testing in 2007Having won his first race after only six attempts, Lewis Hamilton is surely gaining support from Formula One fans the world over. Following Sunday’s race, the Silverstone website crashed with so many people trying to get tickets to the British Grand Prix next month, which will almost certainly be a sell out event this year. But even if you cannot make it to Northamptonshire this year, you can still show your support for the young driver buy proudly wearing a McLaren T-shirt or cap.

Grand Prix Legends, an excellent online (and telephone) mail order service that sell official team merchandise, is receiving large number of orders for McLaren T-shirts and die-cast models. Although replica models of the McLaren MP4-22 will not be available until later in the year, it seems that the only way to get your hands on one is to pre-order now. Available in the traditional 1:18 (approx 25cm in length) and 1:43 (approx 10cm in length) sizes, these models are incredibly detailed, and the chrome effect on the real car comes across superbly.

Of course, most fans will want something they can wear while watching their hero charge around the race track, so GPL are selling all sorts of official Hamilton and McLaren clothing.

T-Shirts, in typical McLaren style and Hamilton branded, start at £27.99* while baseball caps start at £19.99*. If you’re actually going to the race, you can always show your support and keep cool under a McLaren umbrella, or fan yourself with a McLaren flag, complete with printed signatures of Hamilton and Alonso.

Ideal for showing support for the young British driver gunning for victory at the British Grand Prix.
