  • McLaren Could Use Bridge In Spain

Fernando Alonso Tests For McLarenMcLaren, who recently tested with the other Formula One teams in Spain last week, may use the new aerodynamic piece that fits on the front wing of their 2007 challenger – the MP4-22. Nicknamed the bridge, the extra part goes over the nose of the car and apparently improves the front end handling. Some McLaren engineers had said that it hadn’t worked as well as hoped, but test driver Pedro De La Rosa seemed to think that the improvement was enough to warrant its inclusion on the car.

McLaren CEO – Martin Whitmarsh – told reporters on Friday that he was pleased with the results, and that it will be an option at the Spanish Grand Prix next weekend.

It is something that has been developed over the last few months within the team. We were pleased with the results of that test and consequentially it will be one of the options available to our drivers during the Spanish Grand Prix weekend. Martin Whitmarsh.

Conversely, Honda are reported to be less pleased with their innovation on the front of their RA107. Nicknamed , the two winglets that stick out from either side of the nose did not generate a substantial differences and the team are expected to leave them at the base for this race.
