  • Toyota Launch 2007 Challenger

Ralf Schumacher Tests His New ToyotaJapanese giants Toyota have launched their 2007 car in Cologne earlier today, inviting guests and media to the unveiling that will hopefully see the team improve on their lacklustre 2006 form. Named the TF107, Toyota admitted that their ‘06 car under performed, but Technical Chief Pascal Vasselon said that the only part carried over to the new car was the zero keel front suspension layout. Most other parts are newly designed and developed.

Toyota lost out to BMW Sauber in the race to fifth position in last years constructors race, but the team vowed to address the issues and reliability problems that plagued for much of the 2006 campaign, and they have set their eyes on winning their maiden race in 2007. Personally, I do not see the team winning a race next year. Despite having been competing in Formula One for five seasons now, I still feel they have a long way to go before they can expect a victory. I’m certain that one day they will be able to do it, but honestly, not just yet.

Here are some more photos from the launch.

A typical looking Toyota, I’m not an engineer but the Toyotas never look particularly good. They look like bricks. That said the front suspension is very interesting!

It seems nothing changes, and I think even the hardened F1 fan would struggle to differentiate between their first 2002 car and this new one. Sigh…
