Williams-Toyota For 2007

Williams Cosworth TestingIt seems that Williams have finally sorted out their long-term engine situation and have pencilled an agreement with Japanese giant, Toyota. It was suggested last year that Williams were looking at Toyota for an engine plant, but instead the Jordan/Midland F1 team continued their association.

Now though, Alex Shnaider’s team will need to look elsewhere for an engine deal and Cosworth’s 12 month relationship (this time around) with Frank and Paddy’s private team will end. Cosworth have worked with Williams in the past and have enjoyed a lot of success together, but the long term future and supplemental sponsorship opportunities that come with Toyota must be a good thing for Team Willy.

The Toyota engine has always been regarded as “not bad”, and despite the lack of success with the Toyota team, the companies goal of achieving the Constructors Title is possible providing they can piece the puzzle together. Unfortunatey though, if Williams continue to improve their current form, the private team will be out-perfoming the factory team. And that won’t go down too well in Cologne…
